RADIO SILENCE, a 5-piece alternative rock band from northern New Jersey, delivers a tantalizing blend of Alternative and hard-driving Rock with a hint of Punk and Grunge, supported by strong lyrics.  They have known each other for several years, but came together as a band in September of 2012, with the goal to write and record music for the SchoolJam USA Battle of the Bands.

The band members met through their local music school/store, ShamRock School of Music in Pompton Plains, NJ, growing in their musical abilities guided by instructors Vince Genella and Roy Van Tassel.  While averaging fewer than 4 years of experience playing their individual instruments, the recordings you hear reflect the authentic and natural sounds of each member of the band.  For Radio Silence it is all about the music; and the music is all about personal integrity … and the genuine self you bring to your instrument and to the mic.

Each of the Radio Silence members has played and performed together or with other ShamRock students in various venues and events such as the Pequannock Street Fair, Lincoln Park Day and Wayne Day, and charity events such as the “Hungry Hearts” Festival, a show to help restock the Pequannock Food Pantry.  Some were also involved in performances at other fundraisers and benefits that have garnered commendation letters from the Governor of New Jersey.

Pequannock was devastated by massive flooding after Hurricane Irene in August 2011. Members of this band played at a concert while the flood waters were still receding and helped collect food and basic items needed for those affected.  A year later, they were asked back by the mayor to perform at a celebration of community spirit on the one year anniversary of the hurricane. It was at that event that they first heard about the NAMM SchoolJam USA Contest and discussed entering their own music into the competition.
